Jon Pryke RBA is an established and highly successful pastel artist in receipt of many prestigious awards. Throughout his career Jon has held numerous successful solo and group exhibitions both in the UK and abroad.
Jon has an incredibly rich artistic education having studied multiple practices at Ipswich School of Art, London College of Printing and Goldsmith’s College. Alongside his career as a fine artist he went on to become a lecturer at Camberwell, Ravensbourne and Ipswich School of Art.
Jon is a frequent contributor to the annual exhibitions of the Royal Academy, the Royal Society of Marine Artists, the Pastel Society and the Royal Society of British Artists, where he has served two separate terms as an RBA Council member.
Jon is regarded as a master of pastel usage, particularly in the subtle way he harmonises lush colours with sensitivity and skill. He thrives on light in all its aspects, often painting in Southern Europe where the light is stronger and colours more vivid - ‘light-seeing’ as he calls it.
Jon’s works are held in the public collection of Christchurch Mansion Ipswich and in private collections in the USA, Spain, UK, Portugal, Holland and Japan. His commissions include those from The Palace of Westminster; Downing Street and Wayford Manor in Somerset. He currently lives in South East London but frequently returns to paint the Suffolk landscape.
